Our favourite Marilyn Monroe film – Some Like It Hot (1959)
A gently curved spear type railhead with perfect proportions that looks stunning when dressed with black powder coating. This style has become our best seller and has worked very well in situations where new ironworks are required to match existing originals.
The gate comes complete with a flip latch and adjustable eye bolts. Please note we do not supply any nuts or bolts required for fixing your ironworks into brickwork, stonework or the ground. We advise you to buy these locally as there are many different types according to the materials to which the ironworks will be fitted.
Optional extras available to order at additional cost include
- Slide Bolt (Click to order at £15.00 each)
- 5 Lever Mortice Lock (Click to order at £110.00 each)
- Hot dip galvanizing – please select prior to checkout
- Powder coating – please select prior to checkout
All sizes quoted are gap sizes not actual gate sizes so please measure from brick to brick and we will calculate all allowances required for brackets, hinges, ground clearance etc. before we make your gate. Please see How to Measure Accurately for further advice before placing your order. If you cannot see the size you need please contact us with the dimensions you require and we will prepare a quote for you. We make bespoke sizes without the high price tag of made to measure products. For example if you require a gate measuring 1150mm high x 914mm wide we would only charge you for 1220mm high x 914mm wide (the next size up in our price band).
Heavy duty steel posts are required to suit these gates, POA.
We make each gate(s) to order and to the exact size(s) each customer requires. Therefore please note that your order will be bespoke.
- 20mm round vertical infill bars spaced at 100mm intervals
- 40mm x 10mm horizontal top and bottom bars for frame
- 40mm x 40mm square hollow section verticals for frame
- Railhead measures 200 mm high and is set on a 20 mm round base
Also included free of charge is a fixing kit comprising brackets, hinges, latches, nuts and bolts required to bolt your single gate in place. We do not supply bolts or screws necessary for installing ironworks to your specific brickwork/masonry/woodwork and would advise you buy these locally to suit your particular application.
Please note that we make the 914mm (3ft) and 1220mm (4ft) high gates with one row of decoration and the 1830mm (6ft) high metal gates with two rows of decoration.
Please see information below on the different finish options available.
Hot Dip Galvanizing
This is a protective coating that is carried out to British Standard BS EN ISO 1461. It provides rustproof protection for 50+ years. Please note that hot dip galvanized products have a bright silver/grey appearance that, if left unpainted, will weather over time. Our galvanized products may have a slightly uneven colour and texture due to the fine finishing we carry out by hand which we call linishing. We do this to smooth out small burrs or shards of zinc that naturally occur during the galvanizing process. This does not diminish the protective properties provided by the galvanizing. Please bear this in mind if you order galvanized only products that you are not going to paint.
If you would like a black finish you can either coat them with paint suitable for exterior metal surfaces or choose powder coating prior to checkout. Other colours of powder coating are available on request, please email us with your requirements. Our top specification finish is hot dip galvanized and powder coated which provides an extremely durable and maintenance free finish.
Provides a much harder finish than conventional paint. Our powder coating is applied to an average thickness of 80 microns, exceeds the industry standard of 60 microns and complies with British Standards BS EN ISO 13438. Comes in a high quality black satin finish giving a lustrous sheen. Other colours of powder coating are available on request, please email us with your requirements.
Unless your ironworks are galvanized first rust will begin to show through over time though this may not happen for several years depending on the surrounding environment. This is not a fault but is a natural trait of steel and any rust spots that appear on powder coated goods can be sanded down and touched up with paint suitable for exterior metal surfaces.
